Responsibilities
- Collect, process and analyse specimens
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments
- Perform quality-control checks and record results
- Follow specimen-handling, safety and privacy procedures
- Communicate critical results according to protocol
Qualifications
- For technologist roles: certification (for example through the CSMLS) and registration with the provincial regulator where required
- For assistant roles: a medical laboratory assistant program or equivalent experience
- Clinical or laboratory experience
- Knowledge of laboratory information systems is an asset

Day, evening, night and weekend shifts in many hospital laboratories.
Compensation and benefits
The expected compensation for this position is C$25–C$40 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
